PHARA Wins Best Workplaces Award for Second Consecutive Year

PHARA Community Services is proud to announce that it has once again been recognized as one of the Best Workplaces™ in Government & Social Services for 2025, awarded by Great Place to Work® Canada. This marks the second consecutive year that PHARA has earned this prestigious distinction, further solidifying its commitment to fostering a supportive and empowering workplace culture.

The Best Workplaces™ in Government & Social Services list is compiled annually by Great Place to Work®, a global authority on workplace culture. The 2025 list recognizes organizations across Canada that demonstrate a deep commitment to creating high-trust, high-performance work environments, especially in sectors that play a vital role in public wellbeing.

PHARA has been serving individuals and families across North Bay and surrounding communities since 1975, offering a variety of essential community-based services, including accessible housing, assisted living supports, and advocacy for living with independence. The organization has grown to include a passionate and skilled team of staff working across the region.

PHARA’s inclusion on the 2025 list reflects a culture where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered in their roles. To be eligible, organizations must first be Great Place to Work-Certified™, based on direct feedback from employees who anonymously complete the Trust Index® Survey; a rigorous, research-backed tool that measures the employee experience. PHARA was officially recertified earlier this year after once again receiving outstanding results from its staff.

“It is an incredible honor for PHARA to receive this recognition, not only for the organization, but as a testament to the strength of the team,” said Mike Van der Vlist, CEO of PHARA. “They work tirelessly every day to support people in the community, and this award celebrates their success.”

This recognition highlights PHARA’s unwavering commitment to:

  • Employee development and wellbeing

  • Fostering an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative culture

  • Providing opportunities for leadership and innovation at all levels

  • Creating a safe and supportive space for both staff and clients

PHARA’s staff play an essential role in delivering compassionate care, empowering independence, and ensuring that individuals of all abilities are included in the fabric of their communities. This latest award reinforces what clients, partners, and families already know - PHARA is not just a great place to work, but a great organization to be part of.
