PHARA and Nipissing Wellness Ontario Health Team Launch Free AI Workshop Series for Non-Profits, Charities, and Agencies
PHARA Community Services and the Nipissing Wellness Ontario Health Team (NWOHT) are partnering to deliver a free AI Workshop Series designed specifically for non-profit organizations, health care provider agencies, government agencies, and charities across the North Bay and Nipissing region.
The series includes five live, online sessions covering essential topics such as AI fundamentals, strategy, implementation, governance, and improved business outcomes. Each workshop is one hour in length and offered at no cost, thanks to support from PHARA and NWOHT. Training will be led by experts from Canada Learning Code, providing practical knowledge and tools that organizations can begin using immediately.
“At PHARA, we’ve been discussing how AI and machine learning tools will reshape the way we work, build teams, and deliver health and housing services into the future,” said Mike Van der Vlist, CEO of PHARA Community Services. “This is an important and timely topic for all agencies across North Bay. We want to ensure everyone has access to the education and collaboration opportunities they need to prepare for what’s ahead.”
Wendy Smith, Executive Director of NWOHT, echoed this sentiment, noting how seamlessly artificial intelligence is becoming part of daily operations.
“The explosion of AI tools for organizations, including non-profits, government, and charities, is creating opportunities at an incredible pace,” Smith said. “This is a great opportunity for organizations to have staff engage with AI, from frontline workers to management, they can be equipped to make informed choices. Boards and senior leaders, in particular, are also starting critical conversations about AI governance and policy.”
Workshop topics include:
Intro to AI: Fundamental Concepts
AI for Nonprofits: Strategy, Advocacy & Operational Impact
AI Tools for Fund Development & Management
Responsible AI: Building Policy & Governance in Your Organization
Prompt Engineering for Non-Profits: Get Better Results with Generative AI
Sessions will run on selected dates from September through November 2025, combining theory with practical learning and real-world examples of how nonprofits are already putting AI to work.
“AI is touching all areas of our work such as fundraising, HR, grant writing, reporting, and even storytelling,” added Van der Vlist. “Having a basic understanding of how to craft better AI prompts can unlock these tools’ full potential and deliver real benefits to organizations.”
The AI Workshop Series is free and open to all non-profits, charities, government agencies, and health care providers in the North Bay and Nipissing region. Full workshop details and registration are available at www.phara.org.
