PHARA Community Services Recruiting Volunteers for Board of Directors

PHARA Community Services is looking for community-minded individuals from a variety of backgrounds and lived experiences to apply for volunteer positions on its Board of Directors.

“PHARA is committed to strong governance, community leadership, and advancing independence and housing for people of all abilities across North Bay and surrounding areas,” said Matt Duquette, Board Chair of PHARA Community Services. “Speaking from personal experience, I have seen first-hand the outstanding work that the staff and leadership provide to the clients, and I’m very proud to be a part of that ongoing legacy.”

Since 1975, PHARA has been a trusted leader in our North Bay and area communities guided by a volunteer Board of Directors operating within a governance model. Board members bring a wide range of skills, perspectives, and lived experiences that help shape PHARA’s priorities and long-term vision. As part of this recruitment, PHARA is seeking individuals with varied life, educational and professional experiences.

“One of PHARA’s strengths comes from having a Board that reflects the diversity of our community and is committed to thoughtful, inclusive decision-making,” said Mike Van der Vlist, Chief Executive Officer of PHARA Community Services. 

Board members are expected to attend regular meetings which are a mix of in-person and remote, and act as ambassadors for PHARA within the community. The time commitment of 3 hours per month is designed to be manageable, making this opportunity for professionals, retirees, and community members who want to make a meaningful impact.
